Basic Climbing Course
Basic Climbing Course (over 2 weekends)
The Basic Climbing Course is perfect for taking your first steps on the rock.
The days:
Saturday 26 September: This first day is dedicated to basic safety principles: how to tie in and how to belay your climbing partner using the ‘top-rope’ or ‘lead climbing’ methods. Basic climbing techniques will be demonstrated and practised.
Sunday 27 September: The following day, we’ll put everything we learnt on Saturday into practice on the beautiful crags of the Finale area.
Saturday 3 October: After an initial review and warm-up session as second climbers, we’ll lay the foundations for lead climbing: belaying the lead climber and managing the belay station.
Sunday 4 October: We’ll put the skills learnt the previous day into practice, including lead climbing.
What’s included:
- Instruction from a Mountain Guide
- Equipment hire included in the price (helmet, harness, climbing shoes)
What to bring:
- Suitable clothing and approach shoes or trainers
- Your own rucksack with water and a packed lunch
- ... and plenty of enthusiasm to give it a go!
