TREKKING: FRUTTI E SEMI - PASSEGGIATE BOTANICHE DEL FORTE SAN GIOVANNI
🌿Forte San Giovanni stands on a panoramic hill surrounded by greenery—what better place to deepen your knowledge of plants? These botanical walks offer an opportunity to discover the wild plant species found on Becchignolo Hill, as well as the plants growing in the Fort’s moat garden.
With the aim of highlighting and promoting the natural environment surrounding Forte San Giovanni, the Regional Directorate of National Museums of Liguria—which oversees and coordinates the state museums and cultural sites of Liguria—organizes these botanical walks from April to October in collaboration with the CAI (Italian Alpine Club) of Finale Ligure. The programme includes a visit to the Fort and a hands-on workshop, with a different theme each time.
Around the days of the autumn equinox, most plants are devoted to ripening their fruit: some fruits are fleshy, some edible, while others are dry, often delicate and sometimes invasive… We will observe the great variety of their shapes and colours.
📍Meeting point and times
- Meeting point at 9.30 in Piazza del Tribunale in Finalborgo and follow the “Regina” road towards Perti Alta. On the way back, we visit the Fort and its garden, followed by a botanical workshop to help us consolidate what we have learned.
- Return at 12:00–12:30. From the Fort, participants are free to make their own way back to Finalborgo.
- In the event of forecast bad weather, the walk will be postponed.

- The walk and botanical workshop are included in the admission ticket to the Fort: €3,00 full price, € 2,00 reduced price and free admission for under - 18s

In the registration form, participants who are not CAI members must provide their first name, surname and Italian tax code (codice fiscale), which are required to activate the daily accident insurance. CAI members (from Finale Ligure or any other CAI section) must instead provide their membership card number. Alternatively, they may register through the contact details of the CAI Finale Ligure section’s office.
- The maximum number of participants is 25.
