Gavone Castel and the Diamond Tower

The prestigious castle of the Del Carretto family, rulers of Finale

Between the Medieval times and the Modern Age Gavone castle was the prestigious fortified residence of the noble family of the marquises Del Carretto, lords of Finale.The majestic ruins of the castle that survived the 1715 Genoese destruction still dominates over the medieval town of Finale, todays Finalborgo, from the mountain ridge that separates the Pora and Aquila valleys.

With the Renaissance “Diamond tower” that is characterized by the particular pyramid ashlars “diamond shaped” in Finale Stone the castle testifies the importance of this monument in the history of Finale and in that of Italian military architecture.

Bookings for tours are available as part of the “Open door Open art” Project endorsed by MUDIF.

HOW DO WE TAKE CARE OF THE MTB TRAILS IN THE FINALE OUTDOOR REGION

Sustainable outdoor tourism means putting the territory first.

Finale Ligure and the Finale Outdoor Region are world-famous for their incredible MTB trails, but there is something that makes this place pretty unique: the Finale area is not a bike park!

The territory where hundreds of kilometres of MTB trails develop is vast; everyone can access the trails freely. So how do we ensure that the passage of so many riders does not irreversibly damage this invaluable heritage, resulting from years of work of many passionate people? Planning day-to-day maintenance work on the trail network is necessary for this amazing treasure to continue. The only way we can meet the territory needs and continue to offer you all some of the most enjoyable MTB trails in the world is by efficiently organizing the trail-building works.

Resources are crucial if we are to achieve our goal. You can contribute to our project by supporting the work of the Trail Builders and all the professionals and volunteers who work to maintain and enhance our wonderful territory. How?

You already have the For You Card, right? If you want to help some more, for each euro you donate, you will receive 100 extra points on your Card and contribute to 1 meter of trail maintenance!

But you can also buy a t-shirt, a water bottle, a mug or a beach towel from our merchandise collection: a souvenir of your holiday but also a concrete help for the region!
