Walking along the ridge always with a view of the island
Turning your back to the crystal-clear sea waters, a fairy-tale staircase invites you to start the route that offers many surprises! You climb the stairs that historically connected the boroughs of Bergeggi and are in the largest cork oak wood in western Liguria.
Once you reach the summit of M. Rocchetto, a stunning panoramic point where Forte S. Elena once stood, destroyed by the explosion of the powder magazine in 1921, you continue on the sea side through a mixed forest that, ascending and descending the slopes of M. S. Elena, leads to the Gola S. Elena, a crossroads already present in the Iron Age.
The trail mark indicates the Roman road: a wonderful view over the island's gulf accompanies you throughout the route. The climb to M. Mao is a bit challenging, but well worth the effort because from its 440 m altitude it is truly an incredible panoramic spot.
After crossing a grassy saddle, past Passo Stretto, a dirt road allows you to enjoy the panorama up to the three-way junction of Colle della Berba, ascending only on Bric Colombino. The signs lead to Vezzi Portio, where you reach the beautiful chapel of Santa Libera, and towards Magnone, from where you climb to Bric dei Monti, another unmissable panoramic point.
A small path descends through the forest among holm oaks, downy oaks, and fragrant shrubs of the Mediterranean scrub, leading to the SP delle Manie. Now the goal is Bric dei Crovi, with its breathtaking panorama. You continue towards Capo Noli, intoxicated by aromatic herbs, and descend onto cliffs rich in nature and history down to Noli.
