Balcone dei Balzi Rossi Trail
- Status Open
- Area Bardineto
Panoramic loop all around Bardineto.
The route starts near the Medieval Castle and follows the northeast part of the municipal territory for about 23 km, touching its main beauties and attractions. Through it, you reach two main peaks of the Ligurian Alps, such as Bric Agnellino and Monte Carmo, along with 3 smaller peaks: Monte Grosso, Bric Avicello, and Bric Pagliarina. Along the always very panoramic and spectacular trail, you can visit the shepherd huts/shelters in the Cormoruzzi area, the Cascina Cormore area still partially in use, and the splendid Acquetta forest which represents the southern part of the Melogno beech forest, one of the largest in Europe. In the central part of the forest, you can see the beautiful Lago Rotondo, an original sinkhole with water, while at the highest part of the territory lies the Balzi Rossi ridge, from which the trail takes its name. After a nice stretch at altitude, you reach the summit of Monte Carmo.
