Camporotondo ring route
- Status Open
- Area Finalese
Immersed in nature, between archaeology and a bit of mystery.
Certainly among the most beautiful routes that can be done in the Finalese area for a hiker willing to visit places of archaeological interest.
The visit to the Megalithic Enclosure of Camporotondo is interesting, an enigmatic circular enclosure over 150 meters in diameter, bordered by triangular-shaped stone slabs fixed in the ground, whose meaning and the civilization that built it remain an unsolved mystery to this day.
Also not to be missed is a stop at the Ciappi dei Ceci and delle Conche, Finale stone slabs with rock engravings of difficult interpretation dating back to the Neolithic and characterized by several small basins (conche) of square, rectangular, and round shapes, connected or fed by rivulets and channels giving the rock an unusual appearance.
Both the Ciappi and Camporotondo, precisely because of the mysterious atmosphere surrounding them, manage to convey a very special charm to hikers venturing on the plateau.
Along the route, several rock shelters testify to the living conditions of our ancestors. The main ones still visible along the route are Casa del Vacchè and Ca’ Cerisola.
A small visit is also worthwhile to the tiny village of Lacremà (Calvisio Vecchia in dialect) with its Church of San Cipriano overlooking the Pia valley.
