Here history and legend meet
A hike with a "waterfall" as the destination is always beautiful, even more so if it is located in a small inland valley of Quiliano and not in high mountains: the Donnaiola Waterfall, hidden by dense vegetation, is little known but truly spectacular with its 15 m drop and the beautiful pond with crystal-clear waters.
The route starts from the small village of Molini, whose name derives from the presence of buildings for grinding grain using water power, and continues through a forest of hazel, ash, and holly, crossing the Danè stream several times; every now and then you can see grooves in the rocky path caused by constant passage of carts.
In the distance, among the trees, you can glimpse the houses of the village of Cerri, while near the trail appear the remains of the ancient "Dolarium," a "fortified house" likely of a medieval village, and later the characteristic and well-preserved "Ponte della Ratta" with a donkey-back shape, still with its original paving, which allowed access to the Montagna hamlet.
At the second fork, take a right following the signs to the waterfall, while the road to the left leads in about 40 minutes to the village of Faia. Cross the second bridge, the "Ponte della Faja," then descend left to the stream bed. Follow the watercourse and reach an enchanting clearing where the waterfall appears through a rock crevice, forming the pond below.
