From Forte San Giovanni to the CASTRUM DI PERTI

📍 Programme
Meet at 2:30 p.m. directly at Forte San Giovanni: visit the interior and the new Mediterranean garden. Followed by an excursion with an Environmental Hiking Guide, climbing directly from the fortress to Perti Alto and then to the ancient Castrum with the church of Sant'Antonino, an exceptional panoramic viewpoint of the Finale area, perched among the green Mediterranean scrub and holm oak woods, and the wonders of the Pietra del Finale with its caves and karst formations.
Two detours from the main path will lead to the natural arch of the Grotta dell'Edera Superiore and the ancient quarries.
Return at 6.30-7 p.m.

Length: approximately 6km
Elevation gain: approximately 300m
Duration: approximately 4 hours including stops and initial visit to Forte San Giovanni.
➡️ In case of uncertain weather, difficulties for some participants or other unforeseen circumstances, the guide reserves the right to decide on route changes for the safety of the entire group.
🎒 What to bring
Water (water bottles can be refilled at Perti alto),
Snacks to eat at the top.
Comfortable clothing
Hiking/trail shoes or boots.
📍 To reach Forte San Giovanni (independently): follow the signs from Piazza del Tribunale in the historic centre of Finalborgo, on the library side (an additional 500 metres with a 70-metre climb, which takes 10-15 minutes).
The Fort is open at lunchtime: if you wish, you can eat a packed lunch in the outdoor area (tables at the entrance).

Those who are not CAI members must provide their first name, last name and tax code to validate their registration, as these are required to activate daily accident insurance.
CAI members (Finale or other sections) must provide their membership card number.
There is a maximum number of 20 participants, in order of registration.

The ticket for the visit to the Fort costs €3.00 full price, €2.00 reduced price, and is free for children under 18.
