HIKING AND THEATRE: BASTIAN CONTRARIO ON THE SALT ROADS
🌿 A unique experience combining hiking, nature, local history and theatre, exploring the area around Cisano sul Neva and its distinctive geological and scenic treasures.
Accompanied by a qualified hiking guide and botanists from Vivai Montina, we will walk along ancient paths immersed in the rural Ligurian landscape, amongst terraced olive groves, dry stone walls and typical inland crops. The route passes through an old olive grove shaped over the centuries by human labour and characterised by the presence of the local ‘Muregna’ stone, traditionally used to build the retaining walls and terraces.
During the hike, we will visit the historic site where ancient stone millstones were quarried, an important testament to the craft activities linked to stoneworking in the Ligurian hinterland. The route will also offer the chance to pause at a Second World War trench, a silent reminder of events that have deeply marked these valleys.
We will soon reach the panoramic area of the “Il Poggio del Nonno Piero” agritourism farm. From the terrace of Il Poggio, you can enjoy a spectacular 360-degree view encompassing the sea, the Albenga plain, the inland hills and the Ligurian mountains.
