SAN PIETRINO e il TIMO
We’ll start by visiting the “Fornace della Ciassa,” a restored kiln nestled among the olive trees. Then we’ll follow the beginning of the Terre Alte trail as it winds into the Vero Valley, a gorge flanked by rocky cliffs. Here we’ll find a wild, off-the-beaten-path route leading to Prato Pietrino and then on to San Pietrino, which overlooks the valley below—a view well worth stopping for lunch. On the way back, we’ll take the “Sentiero del Timo,” which is named for a very specific reason… and it’s currently in bloom!
LOCATION AND TIMES:
Meet at 9:30 a.m. at the parking lot on Via Certosa in Toirano; estimated return time is 3:30 p.m. In case of bad weather, the hike may be postponed to the following Sunday.
TECHNICAL DETAILS:
- Duration: 6 hours, including stops and lunch break
- Length: approx. 8 km
- Elevation gain: 450 m
- Difficulty: moderate hiking (E)
- Required: hiking/trail shoes or boots, comfortable layered clothing for walking, trekking poles recommended, water, packed lunch, and snacks if desired.

Paid excursion – cost: 20 euros per person (discount for families with children). Payment on site in cash.
