A walk that commemorates a historical event
Every year, on 24 August, the inhabitants of Garlenda take part in a commemorative walk in memory of the earthquake of 23 February 1887, one of the most violent ever recorded in Liguria. The earthquake hit the Riviera di Ponente hard, but Garlenda was miraculously spared.
🕒 Programme for the day
📍 9.15 a.m. – Meeting point at Borgata Ponte (Garlenda), in front of the Town Hall
🥾 9.30 a.m. – Departure
👀 During the walk: panoramic stops, stories and historical insights
🥪 Packed lunch (at the participants' expense)
🔁 Early afternoon – Return to Garlenda along the same route
