TREKKING: VAL MAREMOLA, BALCONY OF MONTE GROSSO
🌿Overlooking the sea at Pietra, Monte Grosso can also be reached via the olive groves of Tovo San Giacomo.
We follow a stretch of the historic Via del Ferro, an ancient route linking Isallo to the coast, once travelled by mule drivers carrying loads of stone and iron; we leave it behind to descend to the stream, fed a little further upstream by karst springs.
Scattered throughout the riverside woodland are the most beautiful pools of crystal-clear water, well worth a long break.
