TREKKING: THE WITCH’S CAULDRON, IN THE ORTO A CALICE
🌿A guide to edible wild herbs.
Let’s start with a short tour of Calice Ligure, a typical farming village whose conditions are particularly favourable for the herbs we’re looking for.
We’ll then head to the Orto della Strega where, alongside a small natural patch of vegetables and flowers, edible wild herbs grow in abundance: here’s how to recognise the ones typical of summer.
The tour concludes by the river beneath the trees, with tastings prepared using the herbs.
📍Meeting point and times
- Meeting point at 9.30 a.m. at Massa Square in Calice
- Return at 12.15 p.m.
- Timetables that tie in with the No. 35 bus service from Finale station

- Elevation gain: negligible.
- Length: approximately 1 km.
- Difficulty: leisurely (T) with short sections of footpath.
Restrictions: dogs are not allowed in the vegetable garden
